Stony Brook University Hospital, home to one of   the oldest credentialed sleep disorders programs in the United States, officially opened its doors to a new multidisciplinary, state-of-the-art Sleep Disorders Center located at 240 Middle Country Road in Smithtown (April 28, 2006). The custom-designed facility is equipped with eight bedrooms with the newest technological advances used to monitor sleep studies. Sleep Center’s three physician-directors are board certified in Sleep Medicine: Avram Gold, M.D., Medical Director for Internal Medicine; Catherine Kier, M.D., Medical Director for Pediatrics; and, Marta Maczaj, M.D., Medical Director for Psychiatry.
