Stony Brook Names Steven L. Strongwater, M.D. Chief Executive Officer of Medical Center
Steven L. Strongwater, M.D., an experienced and highly regarded hospital administrator who since 2000 has headed John Dempsey Hospital at the University of Connecticut, has been named CEO of Stony Brook University Medical Center. The announcement was made today by Stony Brook University President Shirley Strum Kenny and Richard N. Fine, M.D., Dean of the School of Medicine.

Stony Brook University Medical Center has again received a Gold Seal of Approval™, signifying “full accreditation” from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) after an unannounced and comprehensive review of hospital operations, procedures, and patient care, Richard N. Fine, M.D., Dean of the School of Medicine, announced today.

Long Island OCEANS (Ovarian Cancer Education Advocacy Network & Support) donated $25,000 to Stony Brook University Medical Center at OCEANS “Wave of Hope” Gala. The funds will support several ovarian cancer research initiatives.
