SBUMC Cardiologist Receives International Recognition at World Congress on Clinical and Preventive Cardiology
Dr. Kort received a lifetime achievement award for outstanding contribution in the field of clinical and preventive cardiology in the world. She received the award from the President of India, Dr. Abdul Kalam, during a ceremony that took place in the President’s house in New Delhi.

Stony Brook University Researcher Honored By American Chemical Society
Iwao Ojima, a Distinguished Professor of Chemistry and Director of the Institute for Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery at Stony Brook University, has been inducted into the Medicinal Chemistry Hall of Fame, which was established this year by the Division of Medicinal Chemistry of the American Chemical Society.

Autism Society of America Names Stony Brook Professor to Prestigious National Panel of Advisors
Edward Carr, Ph.D., Leading Professor in the Department of Psychology at Stony Brook University, was named to the Panel of Professional Advisors of the Autism Society of America (ASA), a national association with 120,000 members dedicated to educating the public about autism.

Stony Brook Gastroenterologist Receives Award From National Society to Investigate Treatment of Gastrointestinal Bleeding
Atul Kumar, M.D., Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Stony Brook University Hospital, received the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy’s (ASGE) 2006 Given Capsule Endoscopy Research Award. The award, which was given to only two researchers in the nation, provides $25,000 and 200 capsules for physicians involved with promising research in capsule endoscopy.
