Stony Brook University Professor Gary G. Matthews was recently honored by the Biophysical Society in Boston where he received the Sir Bernard Katz Award for Excellence in Research in Exocytosis and Endocytosis.

Two Stony Brook University Students Awarded Prestigious Goldwater Scholarships
— Two Stony Brook University students have been named Goldwater Scholars, one of the most prestigious honors given nationwide to college undergraduates. Kevin Knockenhauer (21), a junior Biochemistry major from Bayshore, New York, and Yan Leyfman (19), a sophomore Biology major from Brooklyn, will each receive scholarships to cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, and room and board up to a maximum of $7,500 per year.
