Internationally Recognized Epidemiologist At SBUMC Receives Prestigious Award For Outstanding Contributions In Medicine
M. Cristina Leske, M.D., M.P.H., DSc (hon), Distinguished Professor of Preventive Medicine and Ophthalmology at Stony Brook University Medical Center, was selected to receive the 2006 Marion Spencer Fay Award for her international epidemiological research in ophthalmology and cancer, for advancing knowledge of health disparities, and for her outstanding record in medicine and public health. She received the honor on December 4 from the Institute for Women’s Health and Leadership at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia.

Kidney Disease Researcher Is Named The First Zickler Scholar In Translational Research at SBUMC
Kate Dickman, Ph.D., Research Assistant Professor in the Departments of Pharmacological Sciences and Medicine at Stony Brook University Medical Center, will be the first Zickler Scholar in Translational Research. Effective January 1, 2007, the position lasts three years.

Rahman Pourmand, M.D., Professor of Neurology and Director of the Neuromuscular Disease Center at Stony Brook University Medical Center, has been named “Physician of the Year” by the Metro New York Chapter of the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (MGFA).
