E. Ann Kaplan, Ph.D., is a Distinguished Professor of English and Compatative Literary and Cultural Studies and is Dirctor and founder of the Humanities Instutute. Her research topics include cultural studies, media and women's stidues from diverse theoretical perspectives including psychoanalysis,feminism, post-modernism and post-colonialism. Dr. Kaplan has lectures all all over the world and her works have been translated into six languages. Her many books include "Looking for the Other: Feminism, Film, and the Imperial Gaze" (1997) and "The Politics of Terror and Loss in Media and Literature" (2005).

Specifc areas of expertise: Multi-cultural cinema and media, and literary and media theory.
