James V. Manzione, M.D. is Associate Professor of Clinical Radiology, Surgery and Neurosurgery, and Director of the Division of Interventional and Therapeutic Neuroradiology, which he established to provide to patients with innovative and minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of disorders of the brain, spine, head and neck Utilizing these techniques, intracranial aneurysms and certain other disorders of the brain and spine can now be treated non surgically using microcatheters strategically placed within the blood vessels of the brain through which the treatment is rendered. Dr Manzione and his colleagues at Stony Brook have the largest experience in the United States in treating brain tumors by placing catheters into the arteries of the brain where chemotherapy is delivered directly into the blood vessels of the tumor.
Specific areas of expertise: Minimally-invasive techniques, including the safety and efficacy of Computed Tomographic Angiography (CTA) of the coronary arteries.
