Glenn Gaudette, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. His research include a focus on tissue engineering, including methods of growing new blood vessels around the heart as an alternative to invasive surgery for clogged vessels and arteries. Dr. Gaudette’s research, under the auspices of the Institute for Molecular Cardiology, uses small needles to inject polymers that stimulate tissue growth. He is then able to determine changes in the regional function in areas of the heart that are smaller than one square millimeter.
Specific areas of expertise: Cytokine delivery. Mechanical function in the heart. Cardiac tissue engineering.
