Leon S. Klempner, D.D.S., Receives Tufts University Alumni Association's Distinguished Service Award
STONY BROOK, N.Y., May 5, 2006 –Leon S. Klempner, D.D.S., Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Children’s Dentistry at the Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine, was honored by the Tufts University Alumni Association during its annual gala on the Tufts Medford campus on April 8.
Dr. Klempner was recognized for his humanitarian contributions to orthodontics, children and families as an outstanding medical volunteer to Operation Smile, an organization that provides free reconstructive surgery to tens of thousands of children and young adults in 25 developing countries and the United States. As a result, his work has transformed both the child and family, providing social change through medical action. Dr. Klempner was also cited for his lifelong commitment to Tufts, his profession, and through his diverse accomplishments, offering an example of enduring leadership.
The Tufts University Alumni Association annually honors alumni and members of the Tufts community whose distinguished accomplishments bring credit upon themselves, their communities, and their professions.
Dr. Klempner is a dedicated orthodontist and founder of Coolsmiles Orthodontics. He lives in Setauket with his wife Laurie. They have three adult children.
