STONY BROOK, N.Y., February 22, 2006 — The American Youth Scholarship Foundation has announced that Stony Brook University junior, Krystyna M. Baumgartner has been chosen to participate in the inaugural year of the United States Model House of Representatives. The United States Model House of Representatives draws one student from each Congressional District to Capitol Hill from April 17-21, 2006 for a simulation of the U.S. House of Representatives. This program will provide Krystyna and other participating students with the foremost experience and education about the inner workings of Congress.

"Serving as a Student Representative in the U.S. Model House of Representatives is a great opportunity for college students across the country to learn about policy making, relationship building, and negotiation skills, within the walls of Congress," said Aurelia Figueroa, Executive Director of the American Youth Scholarship Foundation, and Founder of the United States Model House of Representatives program.

Krystyna will take part in events such as writing and voting on Bills and hearings in the committee rooms of the House of Representatives on Capitol Hill. Events will also be hosted by the Democratic National Committee, Republican National Committee and other prominent organizations.

Krystyna is majoring in Political Science with a concentration in American Government, Law, and Public Policy. She resides in Holbrook, New York.
