Stony Brook Southampton Co-hosts 1st New York Women's Conference on Sustainability
SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y., March 25, 2009 – Over 100 people attended the 1st New York Women's Conference on Sustainability, hosted by Women's Initiatives for a Sustainable Earth (WISE) in conjunction with Stony Brook Southampton and the Stony Brook University Center for Wine, Food, and Culture. Women's Initiatives for a Sustainable Earth (WISE) is a non-profit organization comprised of people dedicated to action and advocacy for climate stabilization.

Grassroots environmental leaders made various addresses throughout the weekend-long series of participatory World Café and self-initiated Open Spaces events. The attendees were able to engage in the conversations and speak on behalf of their own self generated initiatives, sharing tools for personal solutions, action plans, and post conversation networking.
The conference lasted for 3 days, beginning Friday, March 27 at 5:30 p.m. and closing on Sunday, March 29 at 1:00 p.m.
