As part of an ongoing Environmental Education Writing and Advocacy project, student Kathleen Furey and Professors Heather Dune Macadam and Jim Quigley are sponsoring a free presentation open to the public on GM (Genetically Modified) foods and their environmental impact.  There also will be a film screening, "The World According to Monsanto," along with the presentation, "Food Sovereignty and GM Foods.”

The event will be held on Thursday, November 19 at 7 p.m. in Avram Theater. For more information, contact Furey at (916) 397-1588 or email cleanfoodearth@gmail.com. Furey adds, "The community, students, faculty and staff are invited for this interactive educational outreach and advocacy for Food Sovereignty and the dangers of Genetically Modified foods and food patenting."

The long-awaited film by French filmmaker Marie-Monique Robin is described as a “chilling documentary” on the dangers of genetically modified food and "the company that has instigated so much genetically modified food and pesticides into our lives."
