HANDS FOR HAITI Spring Arts Festival
A Student-Inspired Benefit for Injured Children--April 17th marks the date of Stony Brook Southampton’s first annual Spring Arts Festival, HANDS FOR HAITI, a student-driven benefit to aid children who are victims of the recent natural disasters in Haiti. SBSH students will entertain their audiences with readings of original plays and poetry at 2pm. The evening performance begins at 7pm, and includes song, dance, music and comedy. A silent auction of student artwork will be held prior to curtain time and during intermission at the evening performance.

Admission is by donation to A Leg to Stand On, a non-profit international children’s aid organization. Cash, checks (for credit cards and further details, please see below) and donations of prosthetic and orthopedic equipment will be accepted at the door. A Leg to Stand On receives this support on behalf of Hearts and Hands for Haiti, a service project started by West Islip High School junior Dayna Troisi.
Dayna herself overcame the challenges of being born without a left hand - thanks to good prosthetics, a lot of physical therapy and the unflagging support of her family and friends. Dayna is now working to provide much needed medical equipment and resources to the injured children of Haiti. She has inspired the students of Stony Brook Southampton to dedicate the proceeds of their first annual Spring Arts Festival to her cause.
Credit card donations are accepted only online at www.ALTSO.org. Please include Hands and Hearts for Haiti, Dayna’s Project in the comments section. Checks should be made out to A Leg to Stand On and indicate Hands and Hearts for Haiti in the memo section. For more information on the Spring Arts Festival:
