Photo Op/Media Advisory: SUNY Medical Campuses Team to Expand Services for 9/11 Responders
Patients, physicians, and leadership will assemble during a ceremony to mark the expansion of Stony Brook University’s Long Island Clinical Center of Excellence (LI-CCE), part of the World Trade Center Health Program, to a new clinical site at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. The new clinic enables a dedicated team of healthcare professionals to care for thousands more non-FDNY 9/11 responders living in Brooklyn (Kings County) who suffer from the illnesses related to exposures at Ground Zero and the potential long-term effects.

70 Top Long Island HS STEM Researchers to Compete at SBU on Friday
Seventy of Long Island’s top high school researchers and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) students selected from a pool of 226 applicants from 48 Nassau and Suffolk high schools will compete in the Long Island Junior Science & Humanities Symposium (LI-JSHS) at Stony Brook University, a regional competition to present original research work in a real research symposium format.

Heartfelt Valentine: Open Heart Surgery Patients Celebrate Recoveries with their Doctors
Meet some 75 open heart surgery patients who have recovered within the past year as they mingle, celebrate, share stories, and have dinner with the doctors, nurses and staff of the Stony Brook Medicine Heart Center. The event also features a physician-led presentation on the achievements and progress of the Heart Center, including the increase in heart failure patients receiving life-saving devices, and coming treatments, such as gene therapy to help grow heart blood vessels.
