University Experts Jackie Smith, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of Sociology, teaching courses on the United Nations, social movements, and global sociology. Smith’s research includes international surveys of activist groups, studies of the global population of transnational associations since the 1960s, and analyses of media reporting on public protests. Her work has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the World Society Foundation, and the Aspen Institute Nonprofit Sector Research Fund.
