University Experts Paul Gootenberg, Ph.D. is a Professor of History and Director of Latin American and Caribbean Studies. His research spans most of modern Latin America, with an emphasis on Andean and Mexican history and on historical sociology. He also has studied the history of contested drug-commodities, particularly Andean cocaine. He created a major international research program, "Durable Inequalities in Latin America," and a Tinker Field Grant program that supports preliminary travel research for grad students working on Latin America or Iberia. © Copyright 2008 by Stony Brook University |
