STONY BROOK, N.Y., July 22, 2011 – On Sunday, July 31, Stony Brook Long Island Children’s Hospital will hold its annual Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Family Reunion. Dozens of former patients, now kids of all ages, will celebrate with other NICU “graduates” and the Stony Brook Children’s staff. Families will share their experiences resulting from the life-changing care the babies received in the NICU. The reunion takes place on the grounds of the SBU Outpatient Center from 11 AM to 2 PM.
The reunion, which has been held for more than 20 years, provides an opportunity for Stony Brook Children’s staff to see how far some of the tiniest patients have come. Families can also be among the first to tour Stony Brook Children’s new state-of-the-art NICU and Labor & Delivery suites. In addition, family fun includes games, clowns, puppets, face-painting, and giveaways. Light refreshments will also be served.

Established in June 2010, Stony Brook Long Island Children's Hospital is Suffolk County’s only children’s hospital. More than 7,000 children and adolescents are admitted each year.
