TO COMPREHENSIVE CARE OF 9/11 FIRST RESPONDERS

World Trade Center Medical Monitoring and Treatment Program Treats 5,000 Patients

WHAT:
The celebration of the opening of a new and expanded facility for the Stony Brook University Medical Center World Trade Center Medical Monitoring and Treatment Program (WTCMMTP) includes a ribbon-cutting ceremony and dedication. This Federally funded Center of Excellence is the only program on Long Island dedicated to caring for 9/11 first responders. Take a tour of the state-of-the-art medical facility, which includes additional clinical space, patient consult offices, as well as space for administration, research and collaboration among SBUMC physicians and other healthcare professionals.

WHY:        
The WTCMMTP is a federally funded program in operation since right after 9/11. The program provides care for 5,000 WTC first responders from all of Long Island who continue to suffer from health issues related to their work at ground zero. Their health problems are many and sometimes multiple and include asthma, other pulmonary conditions, neurologic and post-traumatic stress disorders. The WTCMMTP assists 25 to 30 new patients each month.

LIE (495) to Exit 57. Going east, make left at light (Motor Parkway - CR-67). Cross over LIE and 1345 Motor Parkway is the first building on your left. Take elevator to first floor.
