Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund Awards $250,000 to SBU Researchers

STONY BROOK, NY, March 8, 2006 – Five Stony Brook University Medical Center cancer researchers from several disciplines received a total of $250,000 from the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund to further their investigations on the molecular basis of breast cancer, which could lead to earlier detection and targeted therapies. Each recipient of the award received $50,000 grants (two years at $25,000). Since it was established 10 years ago, the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund, Inc., has awarded Stony Brook breast cancer researchers more than 52 grants totaling $2.6 million.

The Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund presented the award to the Stony Brook University Medical Center. Pictured, from left: Richard N.
