John J. Ricotta, M.D. is Professor and Chair of the Department of Surgery. His research has been focused on the surgical treatment of stroke, operation for aortic aneurysm, and treatment of peripheral vascular disease (PVD), which can lead to amputation and increased cardiovascular death when underdiagnosed and undertreated. Dr. Ricotta has been honored both nationally and internationally for his clinical and research efforts. He is the author of more than 250 articles and book chapters and an associate editor of two major textbooks in the field of Vascular Surgery. He also is Past President of the Eastern Vascular Society and Society of Clinical Vascular Surgery and a Director of the American Board of Surgery.

Specific areas of expertise: Stroke. Management of PVD. Advances in the treatment of Aortic Aneurysms. Management of venous disease.
