Health Care Experts Lawrence C. Hurst, M.D. is Professor and Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Chief of the Division of Hand Surgery. He is considered one of the country's leading experts in hand surgery and was a member of the team that successfully re-attached the severed hands of a Long Island man in 2005 -- believed to be the first simultaneous re-attachment of two hands in New York State and one of the very few nationwide. He has developed a division of specially-trained hand surgeons to treat all aspects of hand inuuries and deformities.
