Neuromuscular Disease/ALS



Rahman Pourmand, M.D., is Professor of Neurology and Director of the ALS Comprehensive Care Center at Stony Brook University Hospital, the only such center of its kind in Suffolk County. The ALS Center provides a coordinated program of medical treatment, rehabilitation techniques and psychological support for patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Dr. Pourmand also directs the Neuromuscular Disease Center, which conducts diagnosis and treatment of peripheral neuropathies and myopathies.

Specific areas of expertise: Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. Myasthenia gravis. Muscular Dystrophy.
