Theodore G. Gabig, M.D., is Associate Director of the Stony Brook University Cancer Center and Chief, Division of Hematology/Oncology. He has practiced as a medical oncologist for 30 years and oversees the clinical care program within Hematology/Oncology. The division includes multidisciplinary treatment teams for all major forms of cancer. A goal of the division is to search for better ways to prevent cancer and methods to detect it, with a special emphasis on gastrointestinal cancers and lung cancer. Dr. Gabig has spearheaded smoking cessation educational programs at several healthcare institutions and is developing one for Stony Brook University Medical Canter. Dr Gabig centers his research on searching for new biomarkers of cancer, particularly for lung cancer.
