Epidemiology of Eye Disease and Breast Cancer
M. Cristina Leske, M.D., M. P. H., is internationally recognized for her epidemiologic studies on eye diseases and breast cancer on Long Island. A member of the Institute of Medicine, National Academy of Sciences and former Chair of the Department of Preventive Medicine, Dr. Leske was the Principal Investigator of the most far-ranging study of the relationship of electro-magnetic fields to breast cancer ever conducted. In addition, she has been a worldwide leader in the epidemiology of eye diseases, including glaucoma and cataracts, and specifically on the occurrence and risk factors for eye diseases in black populations.
