Cardiology
David L. Brown, MD, is a nationally renowned interventional cardiologist. He is Director of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Department of Medicine, and holds the academic rank of Professor of Medicine. He is Board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, with subspecialty certification in both Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology. A graduate of Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Brown went on to serve three fellowships in his areas of specialization and has served as a Principal Investigator of several NIH grants. He was named to New York Magazine's "Best Doctors" list from 2002-2004 and has more than 150 peer-reviewed articles, books, chapters and abstracts.
Specific Areas of expertise: Identification and treatment of the fatty plaque in arteries responsible for heart attacks. Outcomes of patients with coronary artery disease.
William E. Lawson is Professor of Medicine and Director of Invasive Cardiology, Preventive Cardiology, and Cardiac Rehabilitation. He is noted for his work with Enhanced External Counterpulsation which has offered new hope for treatment of angina patients who are not candidates for traditional revascularization. He has served as the physician adjudicator at Stony Brook for the NHLBI sponsored Women's Health Initiative.
