Stony Brook University Hosts The Fourth Annual Long Island College Art Competition

STONY BROOK, N.Y. March 5, 2009 — On Thursday March 19, 2009, the Long Island College Art competition opening reception and awards ceremony will take place, in the gallery of the Student Activities Center at Stony Brook University from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

    In its fourth year, The Long Island College Art competition (LICA) continues to be Long Island’s largest undergraduate art competition. The LICA Competition is an invitational competition open to all students of Long Island colleges and universities in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The goal of the competition is to highlight the broad range of talent and provides participating students working in all media with a unique opportunity to take part in a professional art competition.  

    LICA takes place at Stony Brook University’s SAC Gallery located in the Student Activities Center. The work will be on display from March 12 to March 25.  

    The LICA competition of 2009 includes the following participating institutions:   Adelphi  University, C.W. Post, Dowling College, Hofstra University, Molloy College, Nassau Community College, St. Joseph’s College, Stony Brook University, Suffolk Community College, SUNY Farmingdale, SUNY Old Westbury.  

    The grand prize-winner will be awarded an Apple Mac book Computer.

    Gallery hours: Tuesday – Thursday: 12 pm – 7 pm.
