STONY BROOK, NY, April 17, 2003----Stony Brook University Hospital is hosting a live-via-satellite video teleconference on “Living with Grief: Coping with Public Tragedy” on Wednesday, April 30, 2003 from 1:30-4:00 PM in the Atkins Learning Center, located in the Health Sciences Center on level 4. The public is invited to attend this free presentation as part of the hospital’s community service activities.
“The broadcast will look at factors that define a public tragedy, such as 9-11, Hurricane Andrew, and the bombing of the Oklahoma City federal building,” said Sabra Boughton, RN, EdD, Program Coordinator. “The panelists will offer insight and advice to organizations and professionals as they support their communities and help those coping with loss. The effects of tragedies will be explored and discussed in depth,” she commented.
The panel discussion is moderated by Cokie Roberts. Guests include Kenneth J. Doka, PhD, MDiv; LaVone Hazell, MS; Marcia Lattanzi-Licht, MA, RN, LPC; Nadine Reimer Penner, ACSW, LSCSW; and Marlene A. Young, PhD, JD.
