Aldustus Jordan, Ed.D., Associate Dean for Student and Minority Affairs at Stony Brook University School of Medicine, was one of eight men honored by Networking magazine at The Sixth Annual David Awards Breakfast, held this winter at the Crest Hollow Country Club, in Woodbury, N.Y. Each man was awarded for his professional achievements, giving, and service to the Long Island community.

Networking magazine, which reaches leaders in business, the professions, and networking associations on Long Island, supports women's business interests and publicizes their achievements. Each year the magazine honors men at the David Awards. The award is named after Michelangelo's statue of David, representing the ideal Renaissance man.

"It is our mission to recognize those who achieve and perform heroic deeds," said Christine Conniff Sheahan, Founder and Publisher of Networking magazine. "And it is our privilege to recognize eight extraordinary men, 'Renaissance' leaders who give back to their community and perform unselfish acts for the benefit of all."

Dr. Jordan received the David Award for his work counseling and educating medical students at Stony Brook University Medical Center for the past 30 years. The award is also in recognition of Dr. Jordan's commitment to the education and literacy of underprivileged children, improving the lives of at-risk youths, and preventing youth and gang violence.
