Stony Brook Southampton Offers School Break Writing Workshops for Gifted Young Writers
The Young American Writers Project (YAWP), created and sponsored by Stony Brook Southampton's MFA in Creative Writing and Literature, has announced that it will offer weeklong School Break Writing Workshops for teens during the winter and spring school breaks.

Stony Brook's WTC Health Program Expands to Winthrop-University Hospital
The Stony Brook University World Trade Center Health Program is expanding its clinical Center of Excellence to Winthrop-University Hospital which enables care and treatment for thousands more who were exposed to toxic chemicals and who continue to suffer from upper and lower respiratory ailments, mental health symptoms, and other conditions related to the environment at Ground Zero.

Seasonal Dinner Raises $25,000 for Pediatric MS Research at Stony Brook
“A Season of Giving” was the theme at the Second Annual Harvest Sunset Dinner to support the National Pediatric MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Center at Stony Brook Long Island Children’s Hospital, where vital medical research is conducted to decode the mysteries of MS. The event was held at Villa Lombardi’s in Holbrook on November 17. More than $25,000 was raised to support the Center’s research and clinical programs.

Stony Brook Receives Science Education Grant from Astellas USA Foundation
Stony Brook University’s Center for Science and Mathematics Education (CESAME), received a $15,700 grant from the Astellas USA Foundation to support the Protein Modeling Challenge, an annual high school science competition that allows high school students to demonstrate their knowledge of a specific topic in biomedical research by constructing a protein model.
